In particular, starting this month, the county will support bus rental fees for school field trip groups and on-site experiential learning groups that visit at least one UNESCO-related paid tourist site. It plans to provide 300,000 KRW per bus, up to a daily limit of 1,000,000 KRW.
Previously, the county embraced seven world treasures recognized by UNESCO, including the Donghak Peasant Revolution records designated as a World Documentary Heritage and the Jeonbuk West Coast Geopark certified as a Global Geopark last year.
It is also gaining attention as a historical and cultural education site where visitors can explore various contents previously only accessible in textbooks, from Bronze Age dolmens to Nongak (traditional farmers' music), Pansori (traditional Korean musical storytelling), and the Mujang military fort site.
Governor Shim Deok-seop emphasized, "Gochang has mountains, fields, rivers, sea, and mudflats, and within them, there are various programs where you can learn about the sweat and passion of farmers and fishermen who cultivate the food on our tables and experience diverse activities. Please remember Gochang as 'Korea's best school field trip destination' and visit us often."
