Jungnang-gu Protects Residents' Safety with 4,500 CCTV Cameras
Expansion to 4,500 CCTVs for a Safer City... Enhanced Surveillance Capabilities with Crowd Management AI Cameras and Intelligent Screening Control System
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) achieved success in catching a thief in the act through real-time monitoring at the integrated CCTV control center.
On February 22nd at around 10 p.m., a report was received via 112 stating that "someone is going around vehicles stealing items inside." Shortly after, the police situation room requested concentrated monitoring cooperation from the Jungnang-gu Office CCTV Integrated Control Center.
In response, the control center discovered and tracked the suspect through focused monitoring of the surrounding area, relaying the suspect’s description and movements to the police in real time. Although the police heading to the reported location could have missed the suspect, the control center communicated the suspect’s moving location via radio, enabling the police to successfully apprehend the suspect. Furthermore, although the suspect denied the crime, the CCTV footage helped catch the thief in the act.
In this way, the district has expanded the number of multipurpose CCTVs within the area to 4,500 units to create a safe city free of crime and disasters.
This effort aims to prevent various incidents and accidents and to respond swiftly to crimes or disasters, ensuring residents can feel secure in the city.
Last year, the district newly installed 258 security CCTVs at 45 locations such as alleys, playgrounds, and hiking trails, and replaced 292 outdated CCTVs.
In particular, AI crowd management cameras were installed around Sagajeong Station and Sangbong Station to prevent safety accidents related to large crowds, and the intelligent selective monitoring system was expanded to strengthen focused monitoring of abnormal signs.
This year, the plan is to add about 300 CCTVs in vulnerable areas such as parks, hiking trails, and alleys, expand the intelligent selective monitoring system, and continuously inspect the operation of CCTV cameras and emergency bells to build an even tighter safety network.
