SK Eliclink "Highway Cumulative Charging Surpasses 10 Million kWh"
Surpassing Milestone Within 6 Months of Service Launch
The cumulative charging volume of SK E-Link's highway electric vehicle charging stations has surpassed 10 million kWh.
SK E-Link's cumulative charging volume at electric vehicle charging stations established at highway rest areas last year has exceeded 10 million kWh.
SK E-Link announced on the 5th that the cumulative charging volume of 198 electric vehicle chargers installed at 61 highway rest areas nationwide reached 12 million kWh as of the end of last month. It surpassed this mark, the company said on the 5th. It increased by 20% in just one month after surpassing 10 million kWh in January, six months after starting to provide electric vehicle charging services in July last year.
Assuming that a domestically certified electric vehicle (excluding compact cars and commercial vehicles) travels 5 km per 1 kWh, this charging volume corresponds to a distance of 60 million km. This is the distance from Earth to Mars.
SK E-Link emphasized its fast charging speed as a strength. Among the 198 chargers installed at highway rest areas, 52 have a capacity of 350 kW, and 146 have a capacity of 200 kW. In the case of the 350 kW ultra-fast chargers, an Ioniq 6 can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes. Considering that most slow chargers installed in apartments and other places are around 7 kW, this is arithmetically 50 times faster.
In addition, systematic charger management was emphasized. Last year, the ‘2023 SK E-Link Highway Keeper’ program was operated, and a sample survey including highway charging stations showed a normal operation rate of 99.4%. This is the result of operating a dedicated management team that dispatches and takes action on-site within 24 hours if the charging control system detects a non-operational status.
