BMW Launches 5 Series PHEV '530e' in Korea
Equipped with a More Powerful Electric Motor... Starting Price from 89.2 Million KRW
BMW Korea announced on the 5th that it has officially launched the new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model 'New 530e' of the new mid-to-large sedan 5 Series in Korea.
The new BMW 530e is a PHEV sedan that combines the efficiency of a high-performance hybrid powertrain with the eco-friendliness of a pure electric vehicle. Its overall product appeal has been improved compared to the previous generation model.
First, the electric motor has become more powerful. The BMW 530e is equipped with an electric motor producing 184 horsepower, which is 63% higher than the previous generation. Combined with the 190-horsepower BMW TwinPower Turbo engine, it delivers a total maximum output of 299 horsepower.
With the increased electric motor output, the electric mode driving range has also been extended. The 530e is equipped with an 18.7 kWh high-voltage battery, allowing it to travel up to 73 km on a single charge (based on Ministry of Environment certification). This is a 62% increase compared to the previous generation's 45 km. The fuel tank capacity has also increased to 60 liters, enabling a maximum driving range of up to 751 km based on official fuel efficiency when both battery and fuel are fully charged. The maximum speed in electric mode is 140 km/h, and the combined fuel efficiency is 15.9 km/l (engine + motor basis).
Additionally, the rear axle is equipped with air suspension, the same as the electric vehicle version i5. This provides both agile driving performance and comfortable ride quality. It also secures a trunk cargo space of 520 liters, the same as the internal combustion engine model, enhancing space utilization.
The BMW 530e comes standard with premium features such as the BMW Kidney Iconic Glow radiator grille lighting, BMW Interaction Bar, Merino leather, crystal interior materials, and Harman Kardon Hi-Fi sound system, as well as convenience features like comfort seats, 4-zone air conditioning, Driving Assistant Professional, and Parking Assistant Plus.
The domestic sales price of the BMW 530e is 89.2 million KRW for the base model and 92.2 million KRW for the M Sport Package model (including VAT).

Through the launch of the 530e, BMW Korea has completed its new PHEV model lineup. It offers a total of 11 options through the sedan lineup consisting of the 330e, 530e, and 750e xDrive, and the Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) lineup consisting of the X3 xDrive30e, X5 xDrive50e, and XM.
