At the event, Governor Kim said, "This year, Gyeonggi Province significantly increased the R&D budget that the central government reduced, and actively invested in social overhead capital (SOC), economic revitalization, jobs, and social safety net budgets. Thanks to your support in paying local taxes, including all of you here, Gyeonggi Province is on the right path. We will prepare for the difficulties ahead by moving forward steadily, not backward."

Gyeonggi Province selects individuals who have paid local taxes on time at least four times annually for more than seven consecutive years as diligent taxpayers. Among them, 300 taxpayers who have made significant contributions to expanding local finances and regional development are separately selected as meritorious taxpayers based on recommendations from mayors and county heads.
This year, Gyeonggi Province selected a total of 257,175 diligent taxpayers. This is the highest number since 2021, when the number of diligent taxpayer awards was significantly increased. Compared to 207,750 last year, this represents a 23.8% increase. Gyeonggi Province explained that this was due to the maturation of taxpaying awareness and improvements in the selection method, which allowed additional out-of-area residents who met the criteria to be selected.
