Yoon "Next Year Marks 60th Anniversary of Normalized Diplomatic Relations... Expecting a Leap in Relations"
President Yoon Suk-yeol said on the 1st, "South Korea and Japan are overcoming a painful past and moving forward together toward a 'new world'."
With the normalization of South Korea-Japan relations achieved through security cooperation against North Korea's provocations, economic cooperation in industries, finance, and technology, and active private exchanges, he emphasized that by building trust and jointly addressing the challenges left by history, the two countries can pioneer a brighter and new future.
At the 105th March 1st Movement anniversary ceremony held at the Yu Gwan-sun Memorial Hall in Jung-gu, Seoul, President Yoon stated, "The March 1st Independence Declaration demanded that our independence is a path for both countries to prosper and that we open a new world based on understanding and empathy toward Japan."
President Yoon highlighted the bilateral relationship, saying, "We have become partners who share the values of freedom, human rights, and the rule of law, pursue common interests, and cooperate for world peace and prosperity."

He also stressed, "I hope that the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Japan next year will serve as an opportunity to elevate our bilateral relationship to a more productive and constructive level."
