To prepare for the expansion and prolongation of the medical strike, the city will implement a responsibility system for senior officials, led by Vice Mayor Jang Sang-gil, overseeing five major medical institutions in the region to conduct real-time monitoring, listen to difficulties, and take action on urgent matters.
The five major medical institutions are Semyung Christian Hospital, Pohang St. Mary’s Hospital, Pohang S Hospital, Good Sunrin Hospital, and Pohang Medical Center.
The dedicated officers matched with each hospital will maintain constant close communication with their assigned hospitals, listen to suggestions, and check emergency room and intensive care unit emergency treatment situations to promptly respond to any emergencies, ensuring the medical care system operates without gaps.
Vice Mayor Jang Sang-gil, who is in charge of overseeing the responsibility system, visited local medical institutions on the 29th to inspect the on-site situation and encourage medical personnel.
On that day, Vice Mayor Jang visited Pohang Medical Center to encourage those working on the front lines to protect citizens’ health and checked the on-site situation to ensure there are no inconveniences in citizens’ use of medical institutions in preparation for any emergencies.
Since the government raised the disaster crisis level to ‘Severe’ on the 23rd, Pohang Medical Center has actively contributed to minimizing medical gaps by extending weekday operating hours by two hours and adding morning consultations on public holidays.
Vice Mayor Jang Sang-gil expressed gratitude, saying, “I thank the medical center staff who are working hard on the front lines to protect citizens’ health through extended consultation hours and 24-hour emergency patient care,” and urged, “With a sense of mission to protect the lives and health of the people, please continue to unite efforts to overcome the medical crisis as a public medical institution.”
