HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Signs MOU with LIG Nex1 for Export-Type Submarine Development
Cooperation on Submarine Core System 'Integrated Combat System'
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries announced on the 29th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for cooperation in developing an export-type submarine independent model with LIG Nex1, a specialized company in the submarine integrated combat system field, at its Ulsan headquarters.
The two companies will collaborate on developing the integrated combat system to be installed on the export-type submarine currently being developed by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries.
The submarine integrated combat system consists of a combat system necessary for target detection, analysis, identification, and engagement, as well as a sonar system that detects targets using sound waves.
LIG Nex1 has experience not only in defense weapons but also in developing and installing the sonar system for the 3,000-ton Jangbogo-III submarine and the integrated combat system for the 1,200-ton Jangbogo-I submarine.
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and LIG Nex1 plan to develop a differentiated export-type submarine independent model to expand the reputation of K-defense into the naval vessel sector.
