Kakao Mobility Establishes Sangsaeng Foundation... Invests 20 Billion KRW Over 3 Years
Kakao Mobility announced on the 28th that it will establish the 'Mobility Win-Win Foundation (tentative name)' aimed at coexistence with the taxi industry and improving the treatment of workers, investing approximately 20 billion KRW over three years.
In 2022, Kakao Mobility revealed a business strategy based on 'win-win innovation' and plans to strengthen social responsibility by pledging a 50 billion KRW win-win fund over five years. Since then, it has carried out various win-win activities such as ▲medical and livelihood support for taxi drivers ▲health checkup support for designated drivers ▲hosting Kakao Mobility Junior Lab ▲operating Seodaemun Hope Car.
Of the accumulated win-win fund, 20 billion KRW will be invested in the newly established foundation, which will serve as a central hub overseeing Kakao Mobility’s various win-win activities that have been operated in diverse forms. Through the foundation, Kakao Mobility plans to systematize the various win-win activities previously executed by the company itself, ensuring continuity and improving operational efficiency. Kakao Mobility will also seek additional funding sources to strengthen the foundation’s sustainability.
The Kakao Mobility Win-Win Foundation plans to carry out various projects aligned with its establishment purpose, including ▲support projects for the development and competitiveness enhancement of the taxi industry ▲improving welfare and creating a safe working environment for taxi service providers ▲promoting exchanges and co-growth between mobility startups and existing industries to foster a healthy industrial ecosystem ▲research and policy studies to strengthen the competitiveness of mobility platforms. Additionally, the foundation will actively accept and promote projects that align with its establishment goals.
Kakao Mobility aims to complete the appointment of board members and foundation establishment procedures in the first half of this year and to fully launch win-win projects from the second half. Based on the win-win activities conducted so far, the foundation will initially focus on win-win activities targeting the taxi industry.
