Gyeonggi-do Holds 105th Anniversary 3·1 Movement Day Ceremony on the 1st at Economic Science Promotion Institute
Gyeonggi Province will hold the 105th anniversary 3.1 Movement Day commemorative ceremony at 11 a.m. on the 1st of next month at the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency in Gwanggyo Technovalley, Yeongtong, Suwon.
About 500 people will attend the ceremony, including Governor Kim Dong-yeon of Gyeonggi Province, Kim Ho-dong, head of the Gyeonggi Branch of the Liberation Association and heads of city and county branches, Nam Kyung-soon, vice chairman of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council, heads of related organizations and veterans' groups in the province, and representatives of the residents.
In particular, by invitation of Governor Kim Dong-yeon, the family of patriot Oh Hee-ok, who cannot attend in person due to illness, will join the event.
The event will proceed under the theme "The Shout of That Day, Hope for the Future," featuring a commemorative video screening, reading of the Declaration of Independence, awards for independence activists, commemorative performances, and three cheers for independence.
Gyeonggi Province produced a commemorative video about the meaning of the 3.1 Movement through interviews with children and naturalized foreigner Iliya Velikov.
Also, the Declaration of Independence, which was traditionally read annually by the head of the Liberation Association branch, will be read by all generations including 4th-grade elementary school children, youth, people with disabilities, naturalized foreigners, and the elderly.
A commemorative performance combining Jindo Arirang sung by visually impaired musician Choi Ye-na and Korean traditional dance honoring the patriotic martyrs' national spirit has also been prepared.
About 30 opportunity reporters composed of elementary school students will also attend and carry out reporting activities.

Meanwhile, in Gyeonggi Province, there are currently two surviving patriots residing: Oh Hee-ok and Oh Seong-gyu, who returned from Japan last August after 70 years.
