Jindo-gun Selected as an Excellent Institution with the Highest Grade in Government Innovation Evaluation

Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do, was selected as an excellent institution with the highest grade in the ‘2023 Local Government Innovation Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

According to the county on the 27th, the local government innovation evaluation assesses three categories?innovation capability, innovation performance, and public perception?across 10 indicators, and determines the results in three grades: excellent, average, and poor.

In this evaluation, Jindo-gun achieved 9th place among 82 county-level units for the first time since the Ministry of the Interior and Safety began conducting the innovation evaluation, resulting in its selection as an excellent institution.

In particular, various efforts for county administration innovation, such as △activation of public-private cooperation △digital-based service innovation △user-centered public service improvement, were recognized and received high scores.

A key example is the collaboration with McDonald’s to launch the Jindo Daepa Burger, which expanded the sales channels for Jindo green onions and led to the activation of public-private cooperation.

Through the activation of public-private cooperation with the Jindo Daepa Burger, Jindo-gun was honored with the Prime Minister’s Award at the ‘2023 Government Innovation Best Practice Competition.’

Additionally, Jindo-gun established the ‘Jindo-gun Public App,’ a mobile communication operating system that allows users to check various information about Jindo-gun at once, and the ‘Smart Village Broadcasting’ system, which enables residents to listen to village broadcasts anytime and anywhere via smartphones, resolving information blind spots and dramatically improving information accessibility.

The establishment of a pediatric and adolescent department, a dedicated village doctor system, and the operation of a visiting physical therapy center?longstanding projects desired by residents?received high evaluations for contributing to the welfare improvement of elderly residents with mobility difficulties and residents in remote and island areas with low access to medical services, as well as for resolving medical welfare blind spots.

County Governor Kim Hee-su stated, “We will do our best to create a livable Jindo where residents are the owners and to achieve administrative innovation that all residents want and can feel.”
