Osanghoon, CEO of ChabioTech, Elected Chairman of the Biopharmaceutical Association
The Korea Bio Association announced on the 27th that it held its 2024 regular general meeting in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and elected Oh Sang-hoon, CEO of CHA Biotech, as the 5th chairman. The term of office is three years from the date of election.

New Chairman Oh previously served as head of strategic planning at Samsung Electronics (executive director) and CEO of Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance's U.S. branch, generating financial performance and accumulating global management expertise. After joining the CHA Medical Group in 2016 as CEO of CHA Health Systems USA, he has served as CEO of CHA Biotech since 2019, strengthening global expansion and profitability in domestic and international cell and gene therapy contract development and manufacturing, cord blood storage, genome analysis and diagnostic businesses, thereby establishing a stable financial structure.
CEO Oh stated, "Next-generation biopharmaceuticals such as cell and gene therapies are gaining attention as important markets, and the government is sparing no support for industrial development. The association will also grow together as a strategic partner that listens to the opinions and difficulties of member companies to enhance the global competitiveness of the domestic biopharmaceutical industry."
Meanwhile, new executives elected to lead the association alongside new Chairman Oh include Hong Cheon-pyo, CEO of GI Cell, Han Seon-ho, CEO of Hugel, and Baek Young-ok, CEO of U-BioLogics as directors, and Choi Seok-geun, CEO of iGene, as auditor.

The Bio Pharmaceutical Association was founded in 2011 to support member companies in enhancing the international competitiveness of the biopharmaceutical industry. It operates Dynamic Bio, the representative public-private consultative body for domestic biopharmaceuticals, proposes regulations and policies, supports global networking, and serves as a bridge between companies and regulatory agencies representing the biohealth industry.
