[Featured Stock] 'Twitch Withdrawal Accelerates'... AfreecaTV Hits 52-Week High
52-Week High, Broken Again After 2 Trading Days
Twitch Korea Withdrawal from the 27th... Practically 'Closure'
Expected Twitch → Chijijik Absorption, Reversal Atmosphere
AfreecaTV has broken its 52-week high again after two trading days. This is interpreted as being influenced by the full-scale withdrawal of Twitch Korea.
As of 10:53 AM on the 27th, AfreecaTV is trading at 129,000 KRW, up 4.96% (6,100 KRW) from the previous day. It surpassed the 52-week high of 128,800 KRW recorded on the 23rd. AfreecaTV's stock price, which started at 123,800 KRW on the day, reached an intraday high of 131,700 KRW and has been fluctuating around 130,000 KRW.
On the 27th, Twitch Korea officially withdrew from the Korean market as announced last year. Streamers who selected Korea as their registered country can still stream but cannot monetize their content. This effectively means the end of the service.
Hot Picks Today
Streamers and users who remained on Twitch until the very end of Twitch Korea's service are massively migrating to AfreecaTV and Naver Chijijik. According to the internet broadcasting statistics site SoftCon Viewership, as of 7 AM on the 27th, AfreecaTV's concurrent viewers numbered 34,897, which is more than Chijijik's 27,131 viewers. Contrary to initial expectations that most Twitch streamers and users would be absorbed by Chijijik due to user tendencies, a significant number of Twitch users, including 'Uwakkud', the top Twitch streamer by viewer count, chose to move to AfreecaTV. Recently, during prime time, AfreecaTV's traffic has been up to twice that of Chijijik's peak levels.
