At the floor strategy meeting held at the National Assembly on the 27th, Floor Leader Yoon said, "The entry of Gyeonggi Dongbu Yeonhap into the National Assembly will prove that the semi-proportional representation system is the worst regressive electoral system since democratization. The Democratic Party must clearly take responsibility to the people for allowing Gyeonggi Dongbu Yeonhap, which should have been a wandering ghost, to become a prominent political force in the Assembly."
He continued, "I don't think the public expected a situation where they would have to worry about Gyeonggi Dongbu Yeonhap again," adding, "Gyeonggi Dongbu Yeonhap, which was the main force behind the 2013 Unified Progressive Party (Tongjin Party) sedition incident, is imprinted in the public mind as a symbol of pro-North Korean forces."
He further stated, "When the Constitutional Court ordered the dissolution of the Tongjin Party, the name Gyeonggi Dongbu Yeonhap should have disappeared into history," emphasizing, "However, consistent media analysis shows that Gyeonggi Dongbu Yeonhap has succeeded in reestablishing its power through the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (Minju-nochong) and the Progressive Party."
He argued, "Considering the unique organizational power of Gyeonggi Dongbu Yeonhap, it cannot be ruled out that the Progressive Party could win through unification in areas other than Buk-gu, Ulsan," and added, "I believe no citizen wants a force with the anachronistic ideology of pro-North Korean sentiment to have influence in the Assembly, whether conservative or progressive."
