Jangseong-gun Selected for Drainage Improvement Project in Jang-an District... Secures 4.8 Billion KRW in National Funding
Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 26th that Jangseong-eup Jang-an district was selected for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ ‘2024 Drainage Improvement Project,’ securing 4.8 billion KRW in national funding.
The Jang-an district, selected as the project target area, is a region frequently affected by flood damage every summer. As it is the confluence of the Hwangryong River and a stream, water levels rise during the rainy season, causing flooding damage to nearby farmland and houses.

To fundamentally resolve this, the county developed a ‘Drainage Improvement Project’ that includes installing one drainage pump station and one drainage gate each, and expanding drainage channels by 2.07 km.
Subsequently, the county made multiple visits to Jeollanam-do and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs to strongly advocate the necessity of the project. As a result, it was selected as a basic survey target area and secured 4.8 billion KRW in national funding.
The Korea Rural Community Corporation, commissioned by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs to conduct the survey, will carry out the basic survey and basic plan establishment process starting this year, with construction scheduled to begin in 2026.
Kim Han-jong, Jangseong County Governor, said, “Focusing administrative efforts on discovering national projects to find solutions to long-standing issues has led to good results,” adding, “We will complete the fully nationally funded ‘Drainage Improvement Project’ without delay to end flooding damage to farmland in the Jang-an-ri area.”
