Kakao Brunch Story Officially Opens Support Feature... Any Writer Can Generate Revenue
Direct Support from at Least 1,000 Won up to 300,000 Won
Some Artists Received up to 10 Million Won During the Pilot Period
Kakao's Daum CIC announced on the 26th that its publishing platform 'Brunch Story' has expanded the 'Cheering' model to all writers. Any of the approximately 70,000 writers using Brunch Story can generate revenue through the Cheering model.
'Cheering' is a direct support system where readers can send sponsorship money along with cheering comments to creators' writings. The amount can be selected from a minimum of 1,000 KRW to a maximum of 300,000 KRW. Comments from readers who cheered are pinned and displayed in the comment section. Users can enable receiving cheering comments in the service settings screen, and once set, 'Cheering' is displayed at the bottom of the article.
Last August, Brunch Story piloted the 'Cheering' model with about 50 representative writers of the service. In October of last year, the application was expanded to 3,000 'Story Creators,' excellent creators selected by topic.
Since the pilot introduction of the 'Cheering' model, both quantitative and qualitative indicators have noticeably increased. The number of posts by excellent creators rose by 30% compared to the same period last year and continues to grow. During the pilot operation period, some writers received cumulative cheering funds approaching 10 million KRW. The number of readers' comments and likes also increased by 45% and 60%, respectively, compared to the same period.

Jeon Ji-seon, head of the Story Business Office, said, "Since the introduction of the Cheering model, the number of good writings and positive responses from readers has increased. We have expanded this model to all writers and will ultimately continue to encourage the production of high-quality content. In addition to Cheering, we are also reviewing new revenue support models."
