The Mokpo Maritime Police Station (Chief Kwon Oh-seong) Bukhang Substation held a training session and meeting on vessel position transmitter devices for local fishery workers at the Mokpo Fishing Vessel Safety Operation Bureau permanent training center on the 22nd.

According to Mokpo Maritime Police on the 23rd, this training and meeting were promoted to prevent unnecessary mobilization of rescue forces and marine accidents caused by recent incidents of vessel position transmitter device malfunctions, failure to notify positions, and loss of contact with fishing vessels.
About 80 local fishery workers attended the training and meeting, where they were educated on △ how to send distress signals in emergency situations △ rules for continuous operation of position notification and position transmitter devices △ compliance requirements for fishery workers, followed by listening to suggestions, difficulties, and other opinions from the fishery workers.
