US to Impose Additional Sanctions on Iran Within Days for Sending Missiles to Russia
The U.S. administration under Joe Biden has announced plans for additional sanctions against Iran in response to foreign media reports that Iran sent hundreds of ballistic missiles to Russia, which is at war with Ukraine.
On the 22nd (local time), John Kirby, Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the White House National Security Council (NSC), stated, "We will impose additional sanctions on Iran within days."
Coordinator Kirby said, "We will bring the issue to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC)," adding, "I can assure you that the international community's response will be swift and severe." He further explained, "We will impose additional sanctions on Iran," and "We will coordinate additional response options with allies and partners in Europe and other regions."

The previous day, foreign media reported that Iran had sent approximately 400 ground-to-ground ballistic missiles to Russia since early last month. Many of these missiles were said to be from the Fateh-110 series, such as the Zolfaghar.
