Amid nationwide medical students' movement to take collective leave in protest against the government's plan to increase the number of medical school admissions, medical students at Gyeongsang National University, the only medical school in Gyeongnam, have also joined the movement.
According to Gyeongsang National University on the 21st, about 80% of the approximately 400 medical students have refused to attend classes and submitted leave of absence applications.
It is known that after informing the school of their intention to participate in the collective leave the day before, they proceeded to understand the procedures for submitting leave applications.
The medical school convened an emergency faculty meeting and decided to postpone the academic schedule for the time being to monitor the situation.
They plan to respond according to the leave status of the remaining students and the prolongation of the leave.
Previously, representatives from 35 out of 40 medical schools nationwide resolved to take collective leave in protest against the government's plan to increase medical school admissions.
