Gwangyang City to Provide 200,000 Won Admission Celebration Fund Support
For First Grade Elementary School Entrants
Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced that it will provide 200,000 KRW as an entrance celebration fund for first-grade elementary school students in the 2024 academic year, an increase of 50,000 KRW compared to last year.
The recipients are first-grade elementary school students registered as residents of Gwangyang City from the date of enrollment to the application date, and the fund will be paid using the local currency, Gwangyang Sarang Gift Card.
Applications can be made either in person or online. For in-person applications, from March 18 to April 30, parents or guardians must visit the local town or township office of the child's residence with their ID and apply. After verifying eligibility, the payment will be made immediately on-site.
Online applications can be submitted through the Gwangyang City website after registering for the mobile Gwangyang Sarang Gift Card, and the payment will be made via the mobile Gwangyang Sarang Gift Card by the 15th of the following month after application.

Tak Young-hee, Director of the Education and Youth Division, said, “We hope that providing the entrance celebration fund will not only celebrate the beginning of our children’s school life but also help reduce the burden on parents to some extent. We also expect that paying with local currency will contribute to revitalizing the local economy.”
