Dedicated Investigator, School Violence Investigation ... Starting from March
Busan Office of Education Appoints 105 Dedicated School Violence Investigators
Roles Include School Visit Investigations and Report Writing
Since March of this year, school violence cases occurring in the Busan area will be investigated not by the schools but by ‘Dedicated School Violence Investigators.’
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced that from the new semester, Dedicated School Violence Investigators will visit schools to directly investigate reported school violence cases.
Until now, when school violence occurred, investigations were conducted by dedicated bodies within the schools, and during this process, schools faced many difficulties due to various complaints and grievances raised against teachers.
With the introduction of the Dedicated Investigator system, it is expected that schools will be able to create an environment where they can focus on the essence of education, such as classes and student guidance.
On the 15th, the Busan Office of Education appointed 105 Dedicated School Violence Investigators, including retired teachers with experience in school violence work, student guidance, and student discipline, retired police officers, youth experts, and counseling specialists.
They will be responsible for reviewing case intake reports, visiting schools to investigate cases, preparing investigation reports, and attending case meetings and review committees.
Before the full implementation of the system, the Office of Education will conduct a three-day training program starting on the 20th at Dongnae Middle School to enhance their investigative capabilities. Through this training, they will learn about understanding school violence systems and laws, procedures for handling school violence cases, how to write investigation reports (including practical exercises), student and guardian counseling techniques, child abuse and sexual violence prevention education, and understanding school culture.
