Publishing Association Operates Korean Pavilion at Taipei International Book Exhibition
Participation of 5 Publishers and Agencies
The Korea Publishers Association (KPA) announced on the 19th that it will participate in the 2024 Taipei International Book Exhibition (TIBE·台北國際書展), held from the 20th to the 25th at the Taipei World Trade Center, by setting up and operating a Korean Pavilion. The Korean Pavilion, a collective exhibition space for Korean publishers, will feature five publishers and agencies: BRIX Education, Bookgom, Darakwon, Eric Yang Agency, and PK Agency.
One of the main programs of this Taipei International Book Exhibition is the professional publishing forum, where Yoon Cheol-ho, president of the Korea Publishers Association, Jeon Hye-jung, professor at Chungang University of Cultural Industries, and Choi Won-hyung, reporter for Hankyoreh, will participate as speakers to present on the theme "The Vitality of Korean Publishing."
Each speaker will cover topics such as "Korea's Book Fixed Price System and the Google Lawsuit," "The Current Status and Future of Korean Webtoons and Web Novels," and "The Aspiration for Self-Realization in the Korean Publishing Industry," examining the challenges, trends, and prospects faced by the Korean publishing sector.
Hosted by the Taipei Book Exhibition Foundation, the Taipei International Book Exhibition is celebrating its 32nd edition this year. Last year, 470 exhibitors from 33 countries visited Taipei, attracting approximately 500,000 visitors. The theme of this year's exhibition is "Catch the Reading Wave (閱讀造浪)," with the Netherlands invited as the guest of honor to showcase its publishing and culture.
The KPA operates Korean Pavilions at overseas book fairs by region to introduce Korean publishing culture domestically and internationally and to support the overseas market expansion of book copyrights. This year, in addition to the Taipei International Book Exhibition, it plans to participate in the Bologna Children's Book Fair, the Frankfurt Book Fair, and the Guadalajara Book Fair.
