[Breaking] Ministry of Health and Welfare Issues Medical Service Maintenance Order for All Residency Training Hospitals' Residents
On the 19th, Park Min-su, the 2nd Vice Minister of Health and Welfare, announced that a "Medical Service Maintenance Order" will be issued to all residents in training at the 221 nationwide training hospitals.
At a briefing held at the Government Sejong Complex on the same day by the Central Accident Response Headquarters for the doctors' collective action, Vice Minister Park stated, "The government plans to conduct on-site inspections today and will promptly and transparently disclose the situation as it is identified," adding, "We earnestly urge the residents to withdraw their planned collective resignation and work stoppage and not to turn their backs on patients."
Vice Minister Park also expressed "deep concern and regret over the Korea Medical Association's announcement of collective action and the resulting refusal of residents to report to work, despite multiple appeals from the government."

Regarding the Korea Medical Association's remarks toward the government, he said, "Inhumane statements that threaten the lives of the people are a challenge to the public," adding, "It is shocking and unbearably distressing."
