Suwon City Supports Share Houses for Youth Preparing for Independence... Applications Accepted Until the 23rd
The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province is recruiting 7 young adults preparing for independence to move into the ‘Independent Youth Share House CON’.
Suwon announced that from the 15th to the 23rd of this month, it will select 7 young adults: one female youth to move into Share House CON No. 2 (Maetan 4-dong, Yeongtong-gu), and three male and female youths each to move into No. 5 (Seodun-dong, Gwonseon-gu) and No. 6 (Seryu 2-dong, Gwonseon-gu).
Youths under 29 years old without housing who have completed or are scheduled to leave child welfare facilities early or at term can apply. Residents can stay in Share House CON No. 2 until November this year, and in No. 5 and No. 6 until March 2026.
Applications can be submitted by visiting the Suwon city website, searching for ‘Independent Youth,’ downloading and filling out the application form, and then submitting it via email (aromamin@korea.kr) or in person (Urban Regeneration Division, Housing Welfare Team, 7th floor, Annex Building, Suwon City Hall). In-person applications are accepted on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Suwon will select residents through document review and interviews, and the selected youths will move in at the end of March after an orientation.
Suwon’s youth housing welfare policy, the Independent Youth Share House CON, provides a shared living space where youths under 29 preparing for independence?who are in blind spots of government housing support?can live stably for two years without paying rent, while supporting their independent activities.
The deposit and rent are fully covered by Suwon city, and residents only need to pay management fees and utilities. Furniture, home appliances, and daily necessities are provided in both private and shared spaces.
Suwon offers ‘independence support services’ to residents. It prioritizes access to youth-related services in the local community, provides information on employment and entrepreneurship, and connects residents with related institutions.
Additionally, it links residents with local volunteer organizations as mentors and mentees to support psychological and social stability, and offers priority for rental housing and rental deposit support to those leaving the facility at term.
