Gwangju Seo-gu 'Village Community Contest Project' Promotion

Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) is taking a step closer to realizing the "Living Government by My Side" through a resident-led village community contest project.

On the 14th, Seo-gu announced that it will promote a village community contest project worth 370 million KRW targeting about 100 resident groups and village organizations this year.

This contest project will be divided into village community, apartment community, planned contests (community cooperation, climate response, living lab, communication room), and specialization (sharing promotion, women and family-friendly) fields, recruiting from the 26th of this month to the 8th of next month. All resident groups and organizations with five or more members within Seo-gu are eligible to apply.

Seo-gu plans to review the support project plans and provide support ranging from 2 million KRW to a maximum of 10 million KRW per group or organization.

In particular, Seo-gu will support 10 million KRW for union community projects that go beyond the regional scope this year, and 5 million KRW per organization for climate crisis response projects.

Additionally, Seo-gu plans to focus support on village projects based on the village BI (Brand Identity) that incorporates the characteristics and stories of the 18 neighborhoods, as well as the apartment community field to promote communication and exchange culture among neighbors.

Furthermore, Seo-gu will hold the Village Wisdom School on the 20th and 21st to help the continuous growth of village communities and to enhance the substance of the projects.

Under the theme "Jingaek (珍客) Jinju (眞主); The precious guest of the village becomes the true owner of the village," the Village Wisdom School will invite field activists as instructors to provide detailed guidance on the direction Seo-gu village activities should take and how to write project plans through actual cases.

Seo-gu will also conduct one-on-one customized project plan writing consulting for each group or organization during the contest application period.
