Lotte Energy Materials Secures Lithium Sulfide, Raw Material for Solid Electrolytes
MOU with Isu Specialty Chemical
Lotte Energy Materials announced on the 14th that it has signed a business agreement (MOU) with Isu Specialty Chemical to supply lithium sulfide, a key raw material for sulfide-based solid electrolytes.
Through this business agreement, Lotte Energy Materials will be able to supply high-quality solid electrolyte samples to domestic and international all-solid-state battery companies.
Earlier, on the 5th, Lotte Energy Materials began construction of a pilot plant for solid electrolytes with an annual capacity of up to 70 tons at its Iksan Plant 2.
They plan to expand the production facility to an annual capacity of 1,200 tons by 2026, after trial operation and stabilization phases by the end of this year.
On the 13th, at the 113th floor EBC of Lotte World Tower in Songpa-gu, Seoul, Kim Yeonseop, CEO of Lotte Energy Materials (right), and Ryu Seungho, CEO of Eisu Specialty Chemical, signed a business agreement (MOU) for the supply of lithium sulfide, a raw material for sulfide-based solid electrolytes, with Eisu Specialty Chemical and took a commemorative photo.

Since sulfide-based solid electrolytes are sensitive to moisture, they are also developing moisture-stable sulfide solid electrolytes with high ion conductivity that can be manufactured and handled at the dew point (-35 to -45 degrees Celsius) of existing lithium-ion battery (LIB) processes.
