Pop Star Swift, Going to Watch the 'Super Bowl' Featuring Her Boyfriend? ... Gambling Also Emerges
Public Relationship with Kansas City Kelsie... 'Proposal Rumors'
US Tour Revenue Hits 1.3 Trillion Won... Regional Economic Impact 13.3 Trillion Won
'Swiftonomics' has been said to have even influenced the National Football League (NFL). On the 12th (Korean time), the NFL Super Bowl held at the Allegiant Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, is the largest single-game festival in the world.
The matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs, aiming for their second consecutive championship, and the San Francisco 49ers, challenging for their first win in 29 years, drew attention. However, every move of pop star Taylor Swift attracted nearly as much interest.
The reason is that Taylor Swift (34), the undisputed 'Queen of Pop,' is dating football player Travis Kelce. Whenever Swift visits the stadium to see her boyfriend, she becomes the center of attention, drawing even those who had little interest in American football to NFL stadiums.
U.S. economic media outlet Fox Business cited data from market research firm Apex Marketing Group on the 8th (local time), reporting that Swift has generated a total brand value of $331.5 million (approximately 441.9 billion KRW) for the Kansas City Chiefs, the team of her boyfriend Travis Kelce (34), and the NFL.
U.S. CBS recently reported that a significant portion of new viewers to NFL games are teenage girls. Since the start of this football season, the number of female viewers aged 12 to 17 has increased by 53% compared to last year, according to the outlet. These teenage girls form the strongest support base within Swift's fandom.
Foreign media also reported that bets have emerged on whether Swift will visit the Allegiant Arena on Super Bowl day to see her boyfriend. Currently touring Asia, Swift has a scheduled concert in Tokyo, Japan, on the 11th. While she would likely attend the game if nothing unusual occurs, the fact that she would have to travel halfway around the globe in one day makes her attendance uncertain.
In the U.S., there is talk that if Kansas City wins the Super Bowl, Kelce will propose to Swift on the spot. However, Kelce stated, "For now, I'm focusing only on the championship ring rather than an engagement ring."
Previously, Swift has been described as being in the 'prime of her prime.' She has over 200 million followers on Instagram, one of the popular social media platforms, and was named Time magazine's 'Person of the Year 2023.' Fifty-three percent of American adults consider themselves 'fans of Swift.' Her world tour concert (Eras Tour) became the first tour in history to surpass $1 billion in revenue ($1.04 billion, approximately 1.4 trillion KRW).
The Federal Reserve's regional economic report (Beige Book) also mentioned the Swift effect. The Fed introduced that hotel revenues in Philadelphia in May showed the strongest post-pandemic performance due to Swift's concert. Bloomberg News also reported that along with singer Beyonc?'s tour, Swift boosted the U.S. GDP by $5.4 billion (approximately 7.2 trillion KRW) from July to September 2023.
