Pukyong National University Hosts Workshop for Graduate School Specializing in Fine Dust Management
Lectures by Policy Departments and Introduction of Southeast Region Fine Dust Reduction Research Project
The National Pukyong National University Graduate School of Fine Dust Management Specialization Project Group (Director Professor Noh Young-min) held the "2024 Fine Dust Management Specialized Graduate School Capacity Building Workshop" for three days from the 31st of last month to the 2nd of this month across Jeju Island.

View original imageThis workshop, aimed at strengthening the field expertise of master's and doctoral graduate students participating in the National Pukyong University Fine Dust Management Specialization Graduate School project track, was conducted through events such as field training visits and lectures at the Korea Institute of Energy Research Jeju Global Research Center and the National Institute of Meteorological Sciences, as well as networking sessions.
The graduate students attending the workshop conducted field training by visiting each institution and participated in lectures by experts from the National Fine Dust Information Center, Korea Institute of Energy Research, and National Institute of Meteorological Sciences at the Grand Millennium Hotel.
Additionally, master's and doctoral graduate students, advisors, and participating companies involved in the project group shared and disseminated research outcomes by presenting seven "Research Projects for Fine Dust Reduction in the Southeastern Region," which were promoted as industry-academia-research collaboration projects.

National Pukyong University was selected in 2020 for the fine dust specialization graduate school project, which is led by the Ministry of Environment and the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute to train master's and doctoral level experts in fine dust management. The university was also selected for the second phase of the project last year and will continue additional projects until 2025, aiming to cultivate industry-tailored professionals for fine dust management by operating specialized educational programs in fine dust reduction, management and measurement, modeling, and remote monitoring.
