Nowon-gu Mayor Oh Seung-rok's Lunar New Year Celebration 'Exciting Seol Feast' Rice Cake Soup Serving Volunteer Service
On the morning of the 7th at around 10:30 AM, Oh Seung-rok, the Mayor of Nowon-gu, volunteered to serve tteokguk to over 300 senior citizens at the Seoul Municipal Surak Senior Welfare Center's senior dining hall.
The event was attended by about 300 people, including Mayor Oh Seung-rok, invited vulnerable groups, and welfare center members. It proceeded in the order of opening ceremony, congratulatory performances, congratulatory speeches, children's performances, and a joint New Year's bow (sebae).
Additionally, side events such as traditional games (tuho, ttakji, archery, yutnori), lucky pouch making, and dalgona candy picking experience were held, allowing participants to feel the festive atmosphere of Seollal.
Moreover, Mayor Oh Seung-rok personally served warm tteokguk and fruit to each of the over 300 senior citizens visiting the senior dining hall that day, carefully checking on their well-being along with providing a meal.
Since the elderly population in Nowon-gu ranks third among the 25 autonomous districts of Seoul, the district continuously conducts research to support leisure welfare facilities for seniors such as welfare centers, senior centers, and senior classes, as well as to create a senior-friendly city.
