On the 7th, Hong Kong Ming Pao, citing China’s Guopa News, reported, "After heavy snow and rain in Wuhan’s Garden Expo Park in Hubei Province, the tails of two peacocks froze together with the roof tiles of a building." Due to the severe cold, the peacocks were unable to move, so officials carried out a rescue operation.
The rescue team distracted the peacocks with rice grains to avoid startling them while simultaneously tapping the ice on their tails to break it. After a few minutes, they were able to separate the ice on the peacocks’ tail feathers from the roof tiles and successfully rescued the peacocks.
Meanwhile, in China, as the largest holiday, the Spring Festival (Chunje, Chinese New Year) holiday approaches, a massive migration of people has begun, but heavy snowfall and severe cold have caused traffic chaos in many areas.
