'Kolon Children's Dream Camp' Celebrates 20th Anniversary... 2.7 Billion KRW Support for 564 Participants
The Kolon Group's non-profit foundation 'Kkotgwa Eorinwangja' announced on the 7th that it held the '20th Kolon Children's Dream Camp' over two days starting from the 6th at the Kolon Talent Development Center in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.
The Kolon Children's Dream Camp selects elementary school students nationwide who will be entering the 6th grade this year and who are exemplary in nurturing their dreams despite economically challenging environments. The camp awards scholarships and provides various programs such as career exploration and self-esteem enhancement to help the scholarship recipients pursue their dreams.
This year, a total of 30 scholarship students were selected, and each recipient will receive a total of 5.1 million KRW over the next three years, including quarterly scholarships and middle school entrance preparation funds. Since 2004, the Kkotgwa Eorinwangja Foundation has supported a total of 564 students with approximately 2.7 billion KRW through the Kolon Children's Dream Camp.
This year's Kolon Children's Dream Camp was held under the theme "Children Growing Dreams and Hopes." The 30 20th-term scholarship students gathered from across the country participated in various activities together, including a sports school prepared by Kolon Sporex, career exploration programs, self-esteem enhancement programs, and an eco-friendly energy experience class called "Visiting Energy School Eco Longlong."
Notably, this year’s event included a survey conducted among past scholarship recipients regarding the foundation’s scholarship program, and the results were shared. The scholarships not only improved educational accessibility but also showed meaningful outcomes such as a 19.6% higher 'self-esteem' score?indicating positive self-perception?compared to general students, and a 14.5% higher 'career maturity' score?reflecting understanding of their career paths?compared to general students.
Lee Seung-hyun, a 12th-term scholarship student selected in 2016 and currently a sophomore at Yonsei University, appeared in a commemorative video stating, "The scholarship support was a great help, but through the Dream Camp program, I was able to set a concrete dream, and I am still working hard toward it." He added, "I want to become a beacon for someone like the Kkotgwa Eorinwangja Foundation and actively engage in activities that contribute to society."
At the scholarship certificate awarding ceremony, broadcaster Noh Hong-chul, who has been serving as a director of the Kkotgwa Eorinwangja Foundation since last year, attended along with Chairman Seo Chang-hee, Kim Young-beom, CEO of Kolon Industries, and Kim Jeong-il, CEO of Kolon Global, listening to and encouraging each scholarship student's dreams.
At the event, Chairman Seo Chang-hee said, "To live happily doing what you want, you must love yourself above all else," and expressed his support by saying, "I hope this Kolon Children's Dream Camp will be an opportunity for you to love yourselves, focus on what you want to do, and achieve your dreams."
