Yongin City: "Use School Uniform Support Funds to Purchase Sportswear and Daily Wear Too"
Support Fund for New Middle and High School Students Increased from 300,000 to 400,000 Won
Benefits for 22,000 Students at 85 Schools in the District
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 7th that it will increase the school uniform support fund for new middle and high school students from 300,000 KRW to 400,000 KRW this year. The city expects that approximately 22,000 new students at 85 schools within the jurisdiction will benefit from this increased support.
Starting this year, the city has allowed the support fund to be used not only for school uniforms but also for sportswear and daily wear. To this end, the city amended the 'Yongin City School Uniform Support Ordinance' last year to include these provisions.
The support fund for new students attending schools within the region is applied for collectively by the school according to the school's purchasing procedures. New students enrolled in alternative education institutions or schools in other regions can apply online through 'Gyeonggi Minwon24'.
Since 2018, the city has been providing up to 300,000 KRW per person to new students in middle and high schools and alternative education institutions to alleviate the financial burden on parents for purchasing school uniforms.
