5·18 Injured Member Sent Sexually Harassing Texts to May Mothers' House Director, Sentenced to Prison
A 5·18 wounded member who repeatedly sent text messages causing sexual shame to the director of the May Mothers' House was sentenced to prison and taken into custody in court.
On the 6th, Judge Lim Young-sil of the Gwangju District Court Criminal Division 9 sentenced Lee Mo (63), a 5·18 Democratic Movement wounded member, to six months in prison on charges of violating the Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, etc. (obscenity using communication media).
Additionally, Lee was ordered to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program and was restricted from employment for two years. Due to concerns about flight risk, Lee was taken into custody in court.
Lee was indicted for sending 44 messages over approximately two hours from 4 p.m. last January to Kim Hyung-mi, director of the May Mothers' House, causing sexual shame, fear, and anxiety.
Investigations revealed that Lee initiated the incident because Kim posted critical comments about him in a group chat room with other 5·18 organization members.

Judge Lim stated, "Considering the content of the messages sent by Lee, the nature of the crime is serious, and despite being within the recidivism period, he continues to be prosecuted for other offenses. Taking into account that the victim refuses to accept the deposit and is seeking severe punishment, this sentence was handed down."
