Creating a Cultural Street Around Yonsei University and Global Campus in Songdo, Incheon... Master Plan Service to be Completed Within the Year
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority announced on the 6th that the project to create a university street-themed cultural district within Songdo International City is progressing smoothly.
This project aims to establish a university street-themed cultural district where young people and university students can exchange and enjoy culture around Yonsei University International Campus and Incheon Global Campus areas. As part of the pilot project, Songdo International Complex Co., Ltd. will directly develop the commercial land (C1, C2 blocks) located between the campus town and Yonsei University in the first phase, linking it with public spaces (landscape green areas).

A total of 1,395 citizens participated, including 1,045 online respondents and 350 street survey participants. Additionally, many young people and university students took part in the idea and design contests, submitting works with various concepts. Seven entries were received for the idea contest and 20 for the design contest.
The main ideas submitted to the contest included creating exhibition and art spaces and youth startup zones, holding local community events, organizing inter-university joint events and clubs, running programs such as food trucks, pop-up stores, and one-day classes, establishing complex cultural and sports spaces, and creating nature-friendly walking trails, among others.
Based on comprehensive feedback, including surveys conducted on Yonsei University campus, the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority plans to commission a master plan this year to develop a youth- and resident-friendly cultural district.
