Honam University Confucius Institute Promotes Chinese Lunar New Year Foods in Cultural Exchange Event
Honam University Confucius Academy held a "Chinese Lunar New Year Food Promotion Event" on the 4th at the Namdo Local Food Museum, attended by officials from the Consulate General of China in Gwangju, Son Wani, Director of the Hanbang Center at Honam University Confucius Academy, Jwa Kwonmun, Director of the Jungbang Center, Moon Byungchae, President of the Korea-China Business Association, Kim Hyungsu, Chairman of the Gwangju Buk-gu Council, and 14 national chefs from Liaoning Province, China.
Hosted by the Consulate General of China in Gwangju and supported by Honam University Confucius Academy and the Korea-China Business Friendship Association, the event featured Korean and Chinese chefs making Korean-style grilled short rib patties (tteokgalbi) together, exchanging their culinary cultures, and experiencing and understanding traditional Korean food as well as local dishes from both countries.
After the event at the Namdo Local Food Museum, participants toured the Gwangju History and Folklore Museum and the Gwangju Museum of Art, followed by a cultural performance. During the performance, the chefs personally experienced traditional musical instruments, costumes, and traditional games. The show, blending tradition and modernity, captivated audiences from both Korea and China.
