The presidential gift sets are arranged with new compositions for each holiday. As a result, they have gained popularity among supporters and enthusiasts who collect gift sets. This year as well, ahead of the Lunar New Year, the presidential office’s gift sets sent to various sectors by President Yoon Suk-yeol have appeared for sale on secondhand trading sites.
On the 5th, on secondhand trading platforms such as Danggeun Market and Junggonara, Lunar New Year gift sets sent by the presidential office are being traded under titles like "presidential gift set" and "President Yoon Suk-yeol gift set." The selling price is set around 200,000 to 220,000 KRW. Among these, some sales posts were marked as "sold out," and some posts were deleted.

Earlier, on the 31st of last month, the presidential office issued a press release stating, "We plan to deliver traditional liquor holiday gifts and handwritten message cards from the president to senior figures from various fields who have devoted themselves to national and social development, uniformed heroes and their bereaved families, and socially disadvantaged groups." The gift set this time consisted of traditional liquor, pine nuts, citron syrup, and beef jerky. However, it is known that for Buddhist groups and others, traditional liquor and jerky were replaced with acacia honey and dried shiitake mushrooms.

This is not the first time President Yoon’s holiday gifts have been traded on secondhand markets. Last year, the holiday gifts sent for the first Lunar New Year after President Yoon’s inauguration also appeared on secondhand trading sites. At that time, the gift sets were traded around 200,000 to 300,000 KRW. Considering the actual price of the gift set is about 50,000 KRW, the transactions were made with a premium added.

Meanwhile, last year, a staff member of the People Power Party’s secretariat was placed on standby after posting a trade listing for "presidential gift sets" at 300,000 KRW before even revealing the items. Although private secondhand transactions are not subject to punishment, the reason was that reselling gift sets prepared with tax money for personal profit by taking advantage of the privilege of being an office duty staff member was deemed inappropriate.
