Ministry of Environment to Implement 'Special Charging Measures'
On the 7th, an electronic display board at the Ilsan Bridge tollgate in Geolpo-dong, Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi Province, showed a notice about toll discounts for electric and hydrogen vehicles. To commemorate "Blue Sky Day" (September 7), Gyeonggi Province will offer a 50% toll discount for electric and hydrogen vehicles traveling on three toll roads within the province from this day until the end of the year. The toll roads eligible for the discount are the Seosuwon-Uiwang Expressway (Gyeonggi Southern Road), Ilsan Bridge, and the 3rd Gyeongin Expressway, which are three private toll roads in the province. View original imageThe Ministry of Environment announced on the 4th that it will implement a "Special Charging Plan" from the 5th to the 12th to prepare for the increased operation of electric and hydrogen vehicles during the Lunar New Year holiday.
First, by the 8th, before the Lunar New Year holiday, approximately 300,000 chargers installed nationwide will be inspected for charging and payment system functionality. The Ministry of Environment will conduct measures such as securing key components, rechecking rapid maintenance systems, and focusing on managing high-traffic mobility hubs for 109 major charging facility operators.
The results of charging station inspections and hydrogen station operating hours will be announced on the Zero-Emission Vehicle Integrated Website, and it will be checked whether charging-related information is smoothly provided through smartphone applications (apps) such as Kakao T, T map, and Hiing (Hydrogen Distribution Information System).
During the holiday, an emergency response system among related organizations will be activated, and the number of staff operating the "telephone consultation desk" will be increased to 12. In addition, on-site inspection companies will be designated by region to respond to charger malfunctions and usage inconveniences.
Free mobile charging services will also be provided at 10 highway rest areas where electric vehicle charging demand is expected to surge. At these locations, about 20 kW of power, enough to drive approximately 100 km per electric vehicle, can be charged for free. The dates for free mobile charging services at each rest area can be checked on smartphone apps such as Kakao T and T map, as well as on the Zero-Emission Vehicle Integrated Website.
Promotion of proper charging culture, driving methods that help increase driving range, and hydrogen station safety will also be continuously pursued.
Minister Han Hwajin of the Ministry of Environment plans to visit Manghyang Rest Area on the Gyeongbu Expressway (Busan direction) on the morning of the 8th to inspect the operation and management status of hydrogen stations and electric vehicle chargers, as well as the free mobile charging site for electric vehicles.
