Dongdaemun-gu Mayor Ilhyung Lee's Lunar New Year Dumpling and Garaetteok Sharing Volunteer Service
The Dongdaemun-gu Volunteer Center (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) conducted a dumpling and garaetteok sharing volunteer service on the 31st in celebration of the Lunar New Year holiday.
More than 60 volunteers from 14-dong volunteer camps and five volunteer groups including the Climate Environment Volunteer Corps gathered at 10 a.m. at the Dongdaemun-gu Volunteer Center (30 Sagajeong-ro) to make dumplings to share with neighbors.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, also visited the site that day and supported the volunteer group by making dumplings together.
Each dong volunteer camp carefully made and packaged about 4,500 dumplings along with garaetteok, and personally delivered them to 350 households, conveying warm neighborly love.
In particular, this year, they participated in carbon neutrality efforts by using 'eco-friendly biodegradable paper containers.'
