World Bank Distributes 'Global Compliance Management Guidebook' After 4 Years of Joint Collaboration
The Ministry of Justice will hold a legal support seminar for about 300 businesspeople pursuing overseas expansion over two days starting from the 30th, in collaboration with the World Bank, the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA).

View original imageOn this day, jointly with the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the World Bank, discussions were held on the theme of "Legislative Trends and Latest Legal Issues in Major Global Countries," focusing on response strategies to various legal issues that Korean companies may face when entering the United States, the European Union (EU), Vietnam, and others, as well as ways to establish "compliance in line with global standards."
The seminar featured the direct visit of Mohamadou Dien, Vice President of the World Bank in charge of corporate compliance and anti-corruption at the Integrity Vice Presidency (INT), along with Acting Minister of Justice Shim Woo-jung, Vice Chairman Woo Tae-hee of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and about 150 stakeholders including representatives of domestic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies.
On the 31st, a seminar on "Environmental, Social, and Governance (E.S.G.)," which has recently become a key norm in corporate management worldwide, will be held jointly with KOTRA and the World Bank.
Under the theme "E.S.G. Needed for Overseas Expansion Companies," about 130 corporate representatives will gather to attend lectures on the subtopics of ▲Major Countries' Environmental Regulations (E) ▲Overseas Labor Laws (S) ▲Global Governance Establishment (G).
The Ministry of Justice will distribute the "Global Compliance Management Guidebook," co-published with the World Bank, free of charge to companies in conjunction with the event. Completed after about four years of collaboration, the guidebook includes compliance management guidelines developed by the World Bank over the past 15 years through cooperation with various companies, as well as internal control establishment methods for domestic and international SMEs and mid-sized companies to reference.

In his opening remarks, Acting Minister Shim said, "Turning global crises into opportunities for the Republic of Korea is not technology but 'people,'" adding, "The Ministry of Justice will also strive to be a strong supporter for our companies to succeed on the international stage."
