On the 27th (local time), British daily The Guardian and others reported that a fire occurred around 2 a.m. on a highway in Indiana on a trailer carrying circus animals. Officer Steven Glass said, "We rescued a total of 10 animals, including 5 zebras, 4 camels, and 1 pony, by pulling them out of the smoke-filled trailer."
The police fenced off the area to contain the animals, and shortly after, another circus vehicle arrived to transport the animals. Fortunately, both the animals and the trailer driver were safely rescued. However, during the rescue process, two police officers inhaled smoke and were taken to the hospital. They are currently receiving treatment and have been discharged.
A video capturing the scene of the animal rescue was also shared on social media. In the released footage, the animals did not run away but calmly followed the police officers' guidance. The police fed hay directly to the animals, and some animals grazed on grass by the roadside. The animals quietly wandered on the road before being rescued.
The video became a hot topic locally. Netizens responded with comments such as "Thank you for saving the animals' lives," "We should praise the bravery of the police officers," "Amazing. Glad both the animals and people were safely rescued," and "Thanks to the police officers who saved the animals."

The fire was investigated to have been caused by a malfunction in the trailer equipment. The highway was closed for about 4 hours and 30 minutes and reopened around 6:30 a.m. the same day.
