Lulumedic, Export of Remote Medical Consultation System for Foreign Patients
Consultation Mediation for Thyroid Cancer Surgery Second Opinion for a 20s Russian Patient
On the 18th, Lulumedic facilitated a remote medical consultation for a Russian woman in her 20s suffering from thyroid cancer, in collaboration with Samsung Seoul Hospital.
This consultation was conducted through a cooperative effort between Professor Kim Ji-soo of the Endocrine Surgery Department at Samsung Seoul Hospital and a Russian doctor, based on shared local imaging diagnostic results.
The patient, a Russian woman in her 20s, required a total thyroidectomy due to cancer metastasis to the lymph nodes, which posed a risk of large scars. She inquired about robotic surgery that could minimize the incision size for cosmetic reasons and about the size of the scars.
In September, Lulumedic merged with Assist Card Korea, the leading company in emergency medical evacuation and overseas medical services, strengthening its global medical connection network for overseas Koreans. To expand its business, Lulumedic supplies remote medical consultation services linked to attracting foreign patients through overseas partners. This remote consultation was introduced through the managed care of Lulumedic’s global partner in Azerbaijan. Besides Samsung Seoul Hospital, hospitals available for remote consultations for foreign patients through Lulumedic include Incheon Naeun Hospital, Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine, and Eunpyeong St. Mary’s Hospital.

Based on the technical expertise accumulated during the temporary allowance period for remote consultations, Lulumedic utilizes remote medical services as a means to attract foreign patients. Foreign patients can conveniently receive video-based remote consultations locally before visiting Korea and then proceed with treatment upon arrival. Through this process, patients can indirectly experience Korea’s advanced medical technology remotely, minimizing anxiety about the surgery. Aftercare during recovery is also conducted remotely. Lulumedic has obtained ISMS-P security certification to safely control all personal sensitive information transfers abroad and inbound arising from global medical services.
