Candidate Moon Yong-jin: "Former Representative Lee Nak-yeon Must Immediately Withdraw New Party Formation"
"Some Lawmakers Joining Joint Party Formation Is a Regression of Democracy"
Moon Yong-jin, the Democratic Party preliminary candidate for Mokpo City National Assembly member, stated, "I cannot hide my despair over the fact that former party leader and former prime minister of the democratic government, Lee Nak-yeon, recently declared the establishment of a new party and that some lawmakers agreed to jointly found the party on the 28th."

He criticized, "The people of Jeonnam, including Mokpo, cannot help but feel even more disappointed because they have worked together as National Assembly members and governors," and added, "Local residents and party members are greatly angered by former leader Lee Nak-yeon, who is leading this baseless division, and politicians who agreed to the joint founding of the party solely calculating their personal political gains and losses."
He continued, "If the Democratic Party splits now, it will lead to defeat in the general election, failure in judging the current administration, and a significant regression of democracy," emphasizing, "As a minimum political duty to the citizens of Mokpo, the residents of Jeonnam, and Democratic Party supporters, I hope that former leader Lee Nak-yeon and the politicians who declared joining him immediately withdraw the declaration of establishing a new party."

Preliminary candidate Moon Yong-jin said, "I earnestly ask the person who has served as National Assembly member, governor, prime minister, and party leader with the support of Mokpo and Honam people to listen to the voices of the local residents who say that he is engaging in politics driven by personal desires," and added, "Now is not the time to establish a new party, but to unite, win the general election, lay the foundation for regime creation, and complete reform and democracy."
