"Don't Use Illegal SW" Yongin City Supports Purchase Costs
Up to 50,000 Won Per Person for the Youth
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 29th that it will provide purchase cost support to help young people with job hunting and self-development and to prevent the use of illegal pirated software (SW).
The support targets young people aged 18 to 39 who are registered residents of the city, with up to 50,000 KRW per person. Support is provided when purchasing home or student versions of software, including six types of Hancom Office and three types of MS Office. The city has allocated a budget of 30 million KRW for this purpose this year.
In 2022, the city accepted a proposal from the Youth Network and became the first local government nationwide to start a software purchase cost support project. In the first year, 2022, 36 million KRW was provided to 738 people, and last year, 29.77 million KRW was provided to 611 people.
The city explained that even if someone purchased Hancom Office and received support last year, they can receive purchase cost support this year if they buy MS Office.
Those wishing to apply for purchase cost support should prepare a resident registration abstract issued within the last month, a software purchase receipt, and a screenshot of the product registration page from the manufacturer’s website, and apply through the city’s website.
