A middle school teacher in North Korea was found and punished for forming a political party aiming for 'liberal democracy,' a fact that was revealed belatedly.
According to an exclusive report by TV Chosun on the 26th, a recently released internal North Korean educational video explained that a man who graduated from a North Korean university and worked as a middle school teacher attempted to overthrow the state and formed a political party with others who had developed a consciousness of liberal democracy.

The video is estimated to have been produced after June 2021, following the enactment of the 'Law on the Rejection of Reactionary Ideological Culture.' The video also included organizational principles and the party's charter, stating that "anyone who represents intellectuals and longs for freedom can join the party."
The narration in the video said, "While establishing a new government under a liberal democratic system, about ten subversive elements who learned this during the process of watching impure recordings conspired to overthrow the state," and added, "They became ideologically corrupted by listening to South Korean broadcasts and impure recordings, eventually harboring resentment against our system."
North Korea stated that these individuals faced severe judgment for plotting to overthrow the state, and there is speculation that they were executed.
In this way, North Korea has pointed to South Korean cultural content as a cause of attempts to overthrow the regime and has strictly punished residents who consume South Korean dramas, movies, and songs whenever internal unity is needed.
In December 2020, North Korea strengthened control over the influx of external culture by enacting the 'Law on the Rejection of Reactionary Ideological Culture,' which punishes distributors of South Korean videos with the death penalty and viewers with up to 15 years in prison.
There were reports that seven North Korean students who were caught watching the Netflix drama 'Squid Game' were sentenced to heavy punishments such as life imprisonment, and a resident who sold a USB device containing the drama was executed by firing squad.
