Busan City has selected 90 "Strategic Industry Leading Companies" this year to lead Busan's nine strategic industries.
Strategic Industry Leading Companies are representative companies that lead strategic industries tailored to Busan's characteristics, breaking away from the industrial development system concentrated in the metropolitan area.
Since 2006, the city has been selecting and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises as Strategic Industry Leading Companies to systematically foster regional strategic industries.
The nine strategic industries are ▲Digital Tech ▲Future Mobility ▲Energy Tech ▲Convergence Parts and Materials ▲Bio Health ▲Lifestyle ▲Culture and Tourism ▲Marine ▲Finance.
This year, the city set the direction to strengthen urban infrastructure, enhance competitiveness and productivity through industrial advancement, and strategically foster future industries, and accordingly selected a total of 90 companies as Strategic Industry Leading Companies.
The selected companies are certified as Strategic Industry Leading Companies for three years, and including this selection, a total of 281 companies have been certified as Strategic Industry Leading Companies.
During the certification period, leading companies receive support through over 30 linked projects such as ▲preferential loans and guarantees ▲special guarantees (Leading-Busan Loan) ▲financial linkage support including working capital for SMEs ▲technology development support such as prototype, certification, and product commercialization support ▲domestic and international marketing and consulting.
The city plans to support the selection of these companies for growth ladder policies such as Hidden Champions, Global Small Giants, and World Class to help them grow into global companies.
Through the selection and support of leading companies, the city will focus all its capabilities on creating quality jobs, attracting local talent, and revitalizing Busan's economy.
It plans to accelerate digital transformation and the creation of a future new industry ecosystem, enhancing the innovation capacity of the regional economy and laying the foundation as a global hub city.
Additionally, the certification ceremony for the Strategic Industry Leading Companies selected this time will be held at 10:30 AM on the 26th at The Westin Josun Busan.
About 100 people, including Mayor Park Hyung-joon and representatives of the leading companies, will attend the event. Mayor Park will personally present certificates to the representatives of the 90 newly selected leading companies and continue open communication with stakeholders.
