Professor Park Nam-gyu of Sungkyunkwan University Awarded the 28th Korean Academy of Engineering Grand Prize
Ha Jung-woo, Head of Naver Cloud Center, and Choi Jang-wook, Professor at Seoul National University, Receive Young Engineer Award
The National Academy of Engineering of Korea announced on the 25th that it has selected Professor Namkyu Park, Chair Professor of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Polymer Science at Sungkyunkwan University, as the recipient of the 28th National Academy of Engineering of Korea Award.
Professor Park was recognized for pioneering a new academic field by developing the world's first stable and highly efficient solid perovskite solar cells using light-absorbing materials with a perovskite structure.

View original imageThe Young Engineer Awards were given to Jungwoo Ha, Head of the AI Innovation Center at Naver Cloud, and Professor Jangwook Choi of Seoul National University.
Director Ha contributed to the development of Korea's first ultra-large language AI, 'HyperCLOVA,' successfully led the formation of an AI Ethics Forum, and oversaw projects to strengthen ethics, thereby advancing the AI industry ecosystem. Professor Choi, an expert in secondary batteries, has published numerous papers in new-concept secondary battery fields such as lithium-ion batteries and all-solid-state batteries, and has led university-industry collaboration as the director of the Hyundai Motor-Seoul National University Battery Joint Research Center.
The National Academy of Engineering of Korea annually selects and awards engineering technologists who have contributed to the development of Korea's industry in technology, research, education, and management related to engineering.
The grand prize winner receives a plaque signed by the president and a prize of 200 million KRW, while each Young Engineer Award recipient receives a plaque and a prize of 100 million KRW. The prize money is sponsored annually by the Kiturami Cultural Foundation.

The award ceremony is scheduled to be held at 5:40 PM on the 29th at the Shilla Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul.
