Handonghun "Differences Between Workplaces Must Be Considered When Applying the Serious Accident Punishment Act"
Han Dong-hoon, Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, requested the Democratic Party to postpone the application of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act to workplaces with fewer than 50 employees for two years. This is due to the need to consider the gap between large corporations and small-scale workplaces.
At the Emergency Response Committee meeting held on the morning of the 25th at the central party office in Yeouido, Seoul, Chairman Han said, "Applying the Serious Accidents Punishment Act uniformly to small-scale workplaces without efforts to bridge the gap means politics is failing to fulfill its role."
He added, "I empathize more than anyone with the need to prevent damage caused by serious accidents," but emphasized that "applying the Serious Accidents Punishment Act equally to workplaces with fewer than 50 employees as to large corporations would cause serious harm to small business owners and the working-class people employed there," stressing the need to consider the gap between the two."
