Gokseong Rose Festival Designated as a 'Preliminary Cultural Tourism Festival' by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism
Recognized for Tourism Marketability Abroad
Held Annually in May at Gichaemauel
Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 24th that the Gokseong World Rose Festival has been selected as a ‘Preliminary Cultural Tourism Festival’ by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for 2024-2025.
On the 22nd, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism designated a total of 20 out of more than 1,200 local festivals nationwide as ‘Preliminary Cultural Tourism Festivals.’ Among the festivals in Jeollanam-do, the Gokseong World Rose Festival was the only one to be named a ‘Preliminary Cultural Tourism Festival,’ gaining external recognition for the cultural value and tourism marketability of the festival.

The Gokseong World Rose Festival is held every May at ‘Seomjingang Train Village,’ a representative tourist destination in Gokseong. Against the backdrop of tens of millions of European luxury roses, the festival has established a strong and attractive image with a distinctive concept that differentiates it from other regional rose festivals through planned performances, stage design, and spatial arrangements symbolizing the ‘red color’ of roses.
In particular, the 13th Gokseong World Rose Festival held in 2023 under the theme of the rose ball ‘THE RED’ filled the entire festival site with various experiential programs and contents, enhancing visitor satisfaction.
With this selection as a ‘Preliminary Cultural Tourism Festival,’ Gokseong-gun will receive support from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, including cultural tourism festival designation evaluation and big data analysis, and will qualify to apply for designation as a cultural tourism festival for 2026-2027.
If selected as a ‘Cultural Tourism Festival,’ the festival can receive various supports such as national funding, promotion and marketing, and improvement of accommodation facilities from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization.
Marking its 14th year this year, the Gokseong World Rose Festival will be held for 10 days from May 17 to 26 at Seomjingang Train Village.
