'Search and Seizure at Kyung Hee University College of Music over Professor's Illegal Private Tutoring Allegations'
The police investigating allegations of illegal private tutoring and other admission irregularities involving a current music college professor conducted a search and seizure at Kyung Hee University.
The Dongdaemun Police Station in Seoul announced on the 24th that it carried out a search and seizure at the music college building on Kyung Hee University's Seoul campus in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul.
The police uncovered evidence that Professor A from the university's music college illegally provided private tutoring to prospective students, violating the Act on the Establishment and Operation of Private Institutes and Private Tutoring.
Professor A, who belongs to the instrumental music department, reportedly taught admission pieces to applicants ahead of the Kyung Hee University music college practical exam and then participated as an evaluator in the practical exam.
In response, the Ministry of Education investigated the facts concerning Professor A and, after reviewing the allegations, requested the police to conduct an investigation.
The police plan to investigate whether Professor A abused his position to conduct illegal tutoring and gave higher scores to students he coached during the admission process, as well as to examine the overall admission irregularities.
