Democrats Unveil New Logo After 8 Years... Lee Jae-myung Expresses "Commitment to Expanding Democracy"
New Logo Emphasizing 'Minjoo Party' While Reducing 'Deobureo'
"A Will to Move Forward into the Future, a Promise of New Hope"
The Democratic Party of Korea unveiled a new party logo and symbol (PI·Party Identity) for the first time in eight years. Representative Lee Jae-myung emphasized, "Proud democracy is facing a crisis," adding, "It embodies our determination to protect democracy and to expand and nurture it moving forward."
On the morning of the 24th, the Democratic Party held a 'New PI Announcement Ceremony' at the National Assembly with the party leadership in attendance. The previous PI was created in January 2016 after the party name was changed from the predecessor Saenuri Party to the Democratic Party of Korea. In the new logo, the size of 'Deobureo' (The Democratic) has been reduced, while 'Minjudang' (Democratic Party) is emphasized with a bolder font. The 'mieum (ㅁ)' shape symbolizing democracy in the previous PI has been removed. Additionally, a tricolor flag in blue, purple, and green has been added, which the Democratic Party explains symbolizes democracy, future, and hope, respectively.

Chairman Han introduced the new logo, saying, "It embodies the Democratic Party's resolve to realize politics that saves the people and to create a country where everyone is happy and dreams of hope," adding, "By strengthening the Democratic Party's identity focused on democracy, future, and hope, we aim to garner public support in this year's general election."
Representative Lee Jae-myung stressed, "It contains our determination to further expand the values the Democratic Party has upheld and to pursue new changes that meet the expectations of our people." He introduced the three meanings embedded in the new logo: ▲the will to expand democracy ▲values for the future ▲a promise of new hope, emphasizing, "It reflects the Democratic Party's determination to prevent regression and move toward the future."

In particular, he linked the new logo to the recently announced 'low birthrate pledge,' pointing out, "A representative sign that our society is losing hope is the low birthrate." He added, "We promise to join together in a world of hope that saves lives, not despair and frustration that kills, and through the new logo, we declare this determination to the people," concluding, "We will strive to move forward even if only by half a step."
